Welcome to Hackney Judo Club
Our aim is to inspire the youth and seniors of hackney into our wonderful Olympic sport of judo We are a club that strives to improve the well being and discipline of our members We compete at competitions all over the country and aim to improve the self esteem of all our members despite there age, sex or ability. We currently have many members who represent the London Borough of Hackney at the London Youth Games, the largest sporting event in Europe for under 18`s Our sessions are structured and based upon the technical ability of our members and visitors. All our coaches are qualified through the BJA, First aid trained and CRB checked for the safety of all the children that attend. Our coaching staff have many years of training, competing and coaching judo, including our Head Coach Calvin Walker Hall a former National Champion, and GB Representative. The club offer a well disciplined structure including a child welfare officer under the watchful eye of our National Governing Body the British Judo Association http://www.britishjudo.org.uk/ We welcome and encourage parent participation and volunteers throughout the running of the club where applicable.

Important news: In 2019 our Judo club won a amazing 413 individual medals in competitions including at regional, national level and 2 medals at the Commonwealth Judo championships 2019.
Update: Our young club has developed the largest team of young officials in the country, including national C referees and competition recorders who have worked around the country at British judo events, this team is constantly growing and is something we very proud of. This grows them as both judo players and young people. Our clubs unique officiating pathway is a great way to learn more about the sport and try something new! Let us know if you are interested in becoming an official.
In 2018 our clubs Head coach Calvin Walker-Hall won a total of 9 medals already including Gold at each of the level 4 area opens he has competed in and won a Silver in the British Masters 2018. He continues to compete regularly alongside the team
Incredibly our club won 335 individual medals in 2018. Also in 2018, Hackney Judo club won the boys title for the borough for the 3rd year consecutively by a margin of 57 points beating over 30 other boroughs with our girls team finishing impressively 2nd.
In 2018 seven members of our club were selected to compete in the National teams championships representing the London area judo team. 5 of these won medals including our 3 cadet boys who won Gold for the 2nd year in a row! Both our girl on cadet an pre cadet winning bronze in their teams respectively.

Look back: In 2016 Hackney Judo club took 5 players to the British Schools Championships in Sheffield. our club members impressively won 3 medals including a Gold medal for Fighting chance program graduate Johnnie who became the British Schools champion in the under 60kg group winning all contest by the maximum score of ippon. As well as this massive achievement he also collected the last remaining 10 point he needed to earn his black belt, an achievement even more special as he becomes the clubs first home grown black belt. johnnie has only been studying Judo for 3 years. Teammate Nikita Petrak also competed very well in the boys u42kg group winning his contests eventually progressing to the final where he narrowly lost on a penalty to take the Silver medal. Cameron Walker was fast out of the blocks fighting in the boys over 73kg group showing great throwing skills in his first 2 contests and won a bronze medal at the event unluckily losing to the eventual gold medallist.

Hackney Judo club have now introduced it's new reward system. We now have a player of the month award in which a player from our beginners session can earn player of the month. Winners receive a certificate and goody bag
